As we push through the garden gate of the old homestead,
we are surprised at how much smaller things are than we remembered them,
and how much work needs to be done.

That is so sad. I've found lots of that in the old days in my family. Husband and wife had the same tombstone and if hubby died first, the date the "Relic" died didn't seem to matter. I got such a kick out of it when I discovered we women were called relics. Mary
I haven't found this yet among my family tombstones, but with the work I do for Find A Grave, there are plenty. Relic....sometimes I feel like one...lol
Oh, how this one twangs the heart strings. The sister of my grandfather, the last of her family, didn't even rate her own marker. The big grey granite DUNN marker of her husband's family; with his flat marker to the left, and nothing to the right to mark Orena's last resting place. I may have to do something about it one day.

ReplyDeleteWell at least now we are considered citizens in our own right.
ReplyDeleteSad when people don't care enough about their family to put a date on. But there must be a date in the archives of city hall somewhere right?

ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments. My daughter said I need to find out how to fix this the Aunt Lynn isn't happy.
